Co-curricular

One of the strategic objectives of education at Brooklyn National Public School includes the development of the inner and interpersonal self, scholarly development, active participation in a wide range of opportunities and creative expression. To achieve this objective, the curriculum follows the principles of integrated education, where equal emphasis is given to both curricular and co-curricular activities.

Visual Arts

Visual arts education at Brooklyn National Public School is geared towards shaping a child’s passion towards art. It also helps them to appreciate nature, observe their surroundings, understand emotions and confront them in real life. Our visual arts curriculum provides the students with a platform to express themselves through drawing, painting, etching, clay modeling and sculpture. Students are encouraged to experiment with a variety of media. Designated activity areas provide space for children to utilize the available facilities several times during the week.

House System

Students are divided among four houses Pheonix (Blue), Centaur (Red), Pegasus (Yellow) & Orion (Green). The houses compete each year for two trophies, the sports cup awarded for athletics, performances, the house cup awarded for other merits (drama, science, mathematics)etc.

Performing Arts

In the performing arts, theatre and music assume special significance. With teachers trained from reputed schools, performing arts activities at Brooklyn National Public School are designed to inspire originality and provide a platform for creative expression.

Music at Brooklyn National Public School is a celebration of the wide range of musical instruments and styles found in the Indian subcontinent. Children are exposed to the finer nuances and subtleties of a variety of musical sounds and rhythms. Each child is encouraged to sing, play and participate in a range of music related activities to discover the magic of music and the musician within themselves.

Our performing arts curriculum also includes dance where talented teachers teach a variety of dance forms. Dance to us is perceived as a medium of bodily self-expression and an aesthetic tool to channelize physical energies.

Events

We believe that there are many things that cannot be taught merely through books and making our students ‘experience’ such things is an important aspect of our teaching-learning process. We conduct regular events in our school to channelize young energies in the right direction and make them learn things in a creative and fun-filled way. With so many young minds at work, our campus is always buzzing with events and celebrations. Apart from celebrating important days like Independence Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Karnataka Rajyotsava, Teacher’s Day, Children’s Day etc. we also celebrate all major festivals in the school with full fervor and enthusiasm. This gives our students an exposure to cultures and festivals that are not their own and inculcates values of appreciation and peaceful co-existence. Students look forward to these events and participate in them with great enthusiasm.
